The State of Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries issued the 2016 – 2017 Deer Hunting Dates earlier in 2016. Below we have the data in web format so it is easily accessible. Please be sure to see the official regulations for specific parish information before hunting.

2016 – 2017 Louisiana Deer Hunting Season Dates

Louisiana’s hunting areas are divided up into 10 “areas”. Each area consists of multiple parishes. Please note that each area may not encompass an entire Parish. Also, many parishes are part of 2 or even 3 areas. More on that below.

Louisiana’s Hunting Areas in 2016 – 2017

Area 1

Area 1 consists of Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Morehouse, Ouachita, Rapides, Richland and West Carroll parishes. Refer to the official regulations as only portions of certain parishes are open here. For example, in the Catahoula Parish, the portion which is open is East of Boeuf River to Ouachita River, east of Ouachita River from its confluence with Boeuf River to LA 8, south and east of LA 8 southwesterly to parish line. Also, still hunting is only available to portions of most Parishes, but is available in all of Richland and West Carroll.

Area 2

Area 3

Portions of these parishes are open:

• Acadia-North of I-10
• Allen -South of US 190 and west of LA 113.
• Beauregard -West of LA 113 and east of LA 27 from parish line northward to DeRidder and north of US 190 westward from DeRidder to Texas state line.
• Calcasieu -East of LA 27 from Sulphur northward to parish line and north of I-10.
• Jefferson Davis -North of I-10 and south of US 190.
• Lafayette -West of I-49 and north of I-10.
• Rapides -South of LA 465 to junction of LA 121, west of LA 121 and LA 112 to Union Hill and north of LA 113 from Union Hill to Vernon Parish line.
• St. Landry -West of US 167.
• Vernon -West and north of LA 113, south of LA 465, east of LA 117 from Kurthwood to
• Leesville, and south of LA 8 from Leesville to Texas state line.

Area 4

All of St. Helena and Washington parishes are open. Otherwise, refer to the official regulations as only portions of certain parishes are open here. The others are: East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Livingston, Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa.

Area 5

Portions of the following parishes are open:

• St. Martin -South of I-10 and east of the West Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee and west of the East Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee.
• Iberville -South of I-10 and west of the East Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee.
• iberia -East of the West Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee and West of the East Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee.
• St. Mary -East of the West Atchafalaya Basin Protection Levee

Area 6

All of Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge are open. Portions of the other parishes are open:

• Avoyelles – All except that portion west of I-49.
• East Baton rouge -North of I-110 and west of US 61.
• East feliciana – West of US 61.
• Evangeline – That portion east of I-49 to junction of LA 29, east of LA 29 south of I-49 to Ville Platte and north of US 167 east of Ville Platte.
• Iberville -All north of I-10, and that portion south of I-10 at the Atchafalaya Basin protection levee south to Upper Grand River, then north of Upper Grand River to the Intracoastal Canal at Jack Miller, then west of the Intracoastal Canal northward to Bayou Plaquemine, then north of Bayou Plaquemine to the Mississippi River.
• Lafayette -North of I-10 and east of I-49.
• Rapides -South of Alexandria between Red River and US 167 to the junction of US 167 with I-49 at Turkey Creek Exit, east of I-49 southward to parish line.
• St. Landry -East of US 167.
• St. Martin – North of I-10.
• West Feliciana -West of US 61.
